A few months ago I realized there was a real hole in the Discovery Leadership team. There was no one for me to enjoy Krystal or the Waffle House with! Then God answered by prayers by sending us a worship leader with a passion for the fresh hot small square burgers.
Ok, I’m kidding. (kind of)
Worship is really important here at Discovery, as it should be because God created us to worship Him. When I was looking for worship leaders I wanted to find people with a heart and passion for God and His church. I wasn’t interested in self promoting rock star wannabes.
So I was glad to meet Brad Lowery. Brad is an East Tennessee native. He spent his high school years playing guitar in multiple praise bands and developing a heart for worship.
After graduating, Brad was asked to take on the role of the Worship Leader Intern at Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. With plans to continue his education at East Tennessee State University after graduation, he felt God strongly calling him to stay in Knoxville, TN and take on the position. Since then God has put a passion in his heart to see people engaged in passionate worship to the Creator of the Universe. Over the summer Brad and I got to know each other and he caught passion for the vision of Discovery Church. From that God has led him to be the primary worship leader here at Discovery Church. Brad says:
“I believe that each of us was created by God for a relationship with Him, but we can only enjoy that relationship by God’s grace. God’s great love for us, demonstrated in Christ Jesus, initiates our response. The only reasonable and adequate response is our expression of worship.”
