This morning in my Men’s group we went around the table asking this question: What is the one piece of advice that you would give to 18 year-old you? Of course – we’re not sure if 18 year-old you would listen to the advice, but on the chance that you would, what would you say to you?
Some of the advice from around our table went like this:
…Seek out a mentor
…That the things of this world aren’t as important as they seem
…That God will use the mistakes and failures of your life to mold you into the man He wants you to be
…The image isn’t everything and being accepted by Christ frees you to be who he made you to be
…That following Jesus is more important than sports
Now, what would you add to the list? Let us know in the comments below.
Brad
Refuse to be a slave to society. It’s path takes you away from a relationship with God.
I would have not listened to myself….:-) but it would have been nice to have understood early on that I don’t have to own everything in 5 or 10 years that my dad worked a lifetime to receive. Being a slave to the lender makes work really like work and impacts your opportunity to be a blessing to others in need. Probably not the most spiritual answer, but true as truth can be.
Actually Chris, that’s a VERY spiritual answer. Jesus talked more about money than any other subject. Good stuff.
Don’t wait/waste 20 more years…look to Jesus now to fill your voids, not all these other things of this world … But 18 yr old Vince would have been impossible to reach…sad truth
Love this thread bro and love your heart for God and men. Thanks for your investment in us!
The thing about life is everyone is trying to make themselves happy, and you can’t do that alone, it takes Christ to make a full life.
